Project 8 – Sierra Compound in Nabq

This is a COMMUNITY PROJECT, supported by many individuals and the Facebook pages of ALL animal welfare activists in Sharm El Sheikh.

Tragically, during the night of January 27 to 28, 2024, dogs searching for food on the large garbage hill within this compound were poisoned. Neurotoxins were mixed into the food. Nine dogs died, and three more – including two puppies – had to be treated by a vet for several days.

Even though poisoning stray animals is now punishable by law in Egypt, these cruel acts still happen.

We immediately took action:
We submitted a formal complaint to the governorate, urging that we must finally work together to improve the relationship between humans and animals.
We also demanded that this act must not go unpunished, and that the governorate should take a firm stand against such violence.

Our intervention paid off:
The compound manager was strictly instructed to remove the garbage within a week and to seal all holes in fences, gates, and walls.

Thanks to the joint efforts, 26 dogs were caught, vaccinated, and spayed/neutered.
