Establish organized feeding stations
Vaccinate and spay cats and dogs
Clean-up initiatives on land and in the sea
That the animals can return to their pack or the streets once they are healthy again
Environmental and animal welfare go hand in hand, even in Sharm El Sheikh.
Street animals rummage through plastic bags in search of food. These bags often end up in the Red Sea, either on the seabed or in the stomachs of birds, turtles, and other marine creatures that mistake them for jellyfish, leading to a painful death.
About 70% of our waste ends up on the seabed, with an additional 15% floating on the water’s surface.
Sharm El Sheikh does not have access to natural drinking water. People are forced to buy drinking water in plastic bottles. While some households use reusable plastic containers, one-liter disposable bottles are widespread for daily use. This results in a significant amount of waste, often left on the streets as there are no landfills or recycling centers. To make matters worse, since the time of the Covid pandemic, restaurants have been using disposable plastic utensils that are additionally wrapped in plastic.
Egypt, with its fascinating history and vibrant culture, shape our imagination and perception of this wonderful place. However, present day Egypt lacks the infrastructure and monetary means to ascend it to 21-century norm, showing us that all we take for granted is not a universal luxury.
In Sharm El Sheikh on the Sinai Peninsula, although a popular tourist destination, the reality of the region’s difficulties are plain to see.
Daily, hundreds of stray cats and dogs struggle for their survival as they rummage through trashcans and tear open plastic bags in the hope of finding something edible. There are certainly some well-intentioned people who feed these animals, but this alone is far from sufficient. People need their meagre income to survive themselves. The only existing solution has been the so-called „cleaning campaigns,” where poison is spread, leading to a cruel and agonizing death for these innocent animals.
Since our president will be living in Egypt again starting this year, we have direct contact with activities on the ground. The donated funds will be used exactly where the need is greatest.
Every step will be documented; the documentation will be on our website, social Medias, flyers and YouTube, feel free to use the links on our website to be redirected to the media of your choosing, so you can see where your money goes.
