Important News from Delta Sharm
Today, I, Yasmine, on behalf of The Path to Humanity, had a meeting with the General Manager of Delta Sharm, Mr. Ahmed. I was accompanied by Dr. Mohamed from the Veterinary Chamber of Sharm El Sheikh. Also present was Mr. Sayed, the lawyer for Delta Sharm.
The topic of the discussion was the complaints regarding the capture and relocation of cats and dogs from Delta Sharm. This practice must stop – and we received a clear commitment from the General Manager that no animals will be relocated anymore. Instead, we will work together on a sustainable solution.
The 6-7 stray dogs will be captured, neutered, and vaccinated.
The cats will be gradually neutered and vaccinated in cooperation with the management to humanely control the overpopulation.
Mr. Ahmed will send official letters from The Path to Humanity to the residents and owners of Delta Sharm.
One of these letters will address all those who are already lovingly caring for the cats:
- They will be asked to neuter and vaccinate their animals or request assistance if needed.
- Property owners will be asked to inform their holiday guests to refrain from feeding cats and dogs. Those who wish to help can do so by donating to ensure all animals can be neutered. Uncontrolled feeding not only leads to leftover food lying around but also promotes the rapid reproduction of animals.
Importantly: It is not about driving the animals away – they are an essential part of our ecosystem. Without cats, for example, disease carriers like rats would multiply uncontrollably.
Meeting Results:
- No more capture and relocation of animals.
- The opportunity to speak with residents and, in cooperation with the Veterinary Chamber and the Delta Sharm management, find solutions.
- A sustainable, animal-friendly approach for Delta Sharm – neutering and vaccinating the animals instead of relocation.
A big step in the right direction!
